Part 1 - October 26, 2023

Remember, journaling is deeply personal and free from judgment or expectations.

Let’s begin by taking three calming breaths together. I invite you to close your eyes if it feels comfortable.

Inhale through your nose and exhale out your mouth, releasing any tension.

Today’s prompt: What is one cherished, joyful memory you have with a loved one? Write about that memory in detail.

Before you begin writing, take a moment to allow any thoughts, images or emotions to surface.

When you are ready, open your eyes and let your pen flow, capturing whatever comes to mind.

Thank you for joining me on this beautiful journey.

Strangers often become our unexpected lifeline …

Grieving can be a lonely journey, especially because society generally feels there is a timeline to mourning. We are expected to grieve quickly, quietly behind closed doors and then move on. However, that is different from how loss works, and it is important to find people who understand and can be there to support us when we need it. We need someone who is open to hearing us talk about our loss, no matter how long it has been. We need someone who can simply sit with us without trying to fix us.

Today’s prompt:  Make a list of people you can turn to for support, whether they are available in person or virtually.

Part 20 - March 7, 2023

Loss changes our day-to-day routine…

Today’s prompt: How has your daily routine or life changed since the loss? Describe the differences and how they make you feel.

Experiencing loss can have a significant impact on our daily routine. It can make even the simplest tasks we used to do with ease feel challenging. Take a moment to reflect on how your life or daily routine has changed since your loss. Maybe getting out of bed feels like climbing a mountain, or perhaps you find it hard to focus on the tasks you used to handle effortlessly.

As you reflect on these changes, allow yourself to feel the emotions that come with them. It's okay to let them rise to the surface and to acknowledge them. Give yourself the space to feel them fully. Take deep breaths in, and as you exhale, release those emotions.

Remember, processing these feelings is a journey, and there is no timeline.

Give yourself permission to embrace the full range of emotions associated with your cherished memories.
